Join us for the 4th Annual Canaan Valley Trail Run on Saturday, June 21, 2025, in Canaan Valley State Park. This race will take place on the Promised Land Trail and will be a fun, fast, and exciting race for runners of all levels. The Promised Land Trail starts and finishes directly behind Canaan Valley Resort and is approximately 5.9 miles, we will have a 1 loop 5.9 mile and a 2 Loop 11.8 mile option. Countdown to the 4th Annual Canaan Valley Trail Run
Registration
The Canaan Valley Trail Run will begin at 7:30 am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 directly behind Canaan Valley Resort. Limited to 200 Participants. Start time is tentative and will be confirmed closer to date and in participant emails.
Awards
We will have prizes for the top 3 finishers for male/female for both the 5.9 & 11.8 mile distances. We will also be doing age groups awards for both distances as well.
Swag & Bling
All participants will receive an awesome McClumsy T-Shirt, and event-specific handmade Local finisher medal , Tasty Beer (must be 21 or older), post-race snacks, and more.
Packet Pick Up
We will have a Packet Pick Up on Friday, 6/20 from 6 – 8 pm at McClumsy – 284 East Avenue, Thomas, WV. We will also have race day packet pick up from (tentatively) 5:30 am – 7:00 am on Sat 6/21. Locations TBD.
Course
The course will be on the Promised Land Trail which starts and finishes directly behind the Canaan Valley Resort. The course has approximately 350 feet elevation gain per 5.9 Mile loop.
This map is provided only for reference as the real trail has many more switchbacks.
Directions
The Start, Finish, and Parking will all be located at the Canaan Valley Resort. We highly encourage all runners to stay at the Canaan Valley Resort which is within walking distance to both the start and finish line.

As a skiing destination by winter and a hiking and biking destination by summer, Canaan Valley and Tucker County know how to put people up in style. Whether you want to rest in luxury, experience a quirky atmosphere, stay in a charming cabin, or experience camping in Tucker County, ample accommodations options are available within a 10-minute drive of the race site.
Our host the Canaan Valley State Park Resort offers a lodge with a spa and charming cabins with only feet from the finish line. Just up the road in Blackwater Fall State Park, accommodation options are also available. A variety of lodging options are available in the towns of Thomas, Davis and Canaan Valley whether you want a vacation rental, a unique bed and breakfast, or a hotel. Camping is available in the Monongahela National Forest, beautiful Dolly Sods, or either of the state parks. The options are all affordable, with delicious food and drink nearby.
